So, I’ve recently dropped a video briefing you in on when I began my “fandom” of Dawn Richard’s music while unboxing the latest Second Line album that hit shelves 4/30/21. I, and a couple others who pre-ordered received the album 2-3 days early. I received mine 4/27/21 and almost lost my mind.
This album is a complete evolution of sonics from Dawn’s previous bodies of work and I think it will be “the one” that places her in more public visibility. It’s a beautifully done album. Beautifully done, hands down.
It starts fast and then gets slow and reflective - with that striking recall to an almost archaic classical era with Le Petit Morte, you will definitely find a part of yourself in this album.
A second line is part of a funeral parade in which people come together and celebrate - even if you don’t know the person. It’s a huge celebration - people relating, dancing, coming together, and changing. This album is definitely for NOLA, the weirdos, the artists, the stans who know the previous eras, etc.
I’m so impressed.
Buy the album, collect the Art and then stream this shit. It’s worth it.
Around April 2nd it was reported that Mr. Earl Simmons had suffered an overdose and was rushed to ICU. I then learned that he was in a vegetative state.
Fast forwarding to the more recent update: The night that it was erroneously reported that DMX had passed away, I could not sleep. I jumped up out of "sleep" at around 1am with a sense of urgency, preparing a Podcast offering a different perspective on energy direction. That people remember the biological names of the artists they celebrate. Sometimes, the public image is a spirit that's being fed. Honestly during the entire few days of his struggle, I couldn't sleep throughout the night. I slept during the day and stayed up at night with this feeling of disturbance.
Mr. Simmons communicated that DMX is the Bad guy and that he struggles with multiple personalities.
Traumatic experiences known and unknown to us have shaped Mr. Simmons' mind, behavior, etc. I won't rehearse anything in particular - but it's been made clear that his issues have followed him throughout the course of his life. Addiction and the creation of DMX were his escapes. DMX served as his altar-ego. Some abbreviate Alternate to "Alter" - but I view it as "Altar" ego. A separate identity that required ritual feeding of some sort.
The Altar in which Mr. Simmons laid parts of himself to, to offer to the populace was part of his major contribution to society. It helped a lot of people feel seen. Some would suggest that it came at a cost. Was it redemptive?
One thing's for certain with DMX: Vulnerability was made cool. DMX is also immortal now.
I was then lead to explore where Chiron was during his birth. As I intuited, it was in Aries. He passed during his Chiron return - which is said to be a major turning point of one's life.
Michael Jackson passed during his as well. Michael Jackson was born when Chiron was in Aquarius - he also transitioned when Chiron was in Aquarius.
Naturally I began to piece things together about Aries first - and then Chiron. Chiron in Aries' challenges and success come from the identity.
Chiron is a little planet and comet named after the greek god Chiron - a centaur pierced with a poisoned arrow. He was a master healer but could never heal himself. He died by the wound. Chiron has an eccentric orbit crossing through Saturn and Uranus, which is significant according to astrologers.
The constellation Aries is ruled by Planet Mars, the red iron oxide igneous rock planet. Formerly a volcanic magmatic planet, now cold and barren. Mars, named after Roman God Mars, is the God of War. I went down a rabbit hole of the "why's" behind "everything" Aries.
Aries. I think Aries CAN be misunderstood when they don't have to be. Everything about them is out on the table - so there isn't much to infer or even guess.
They're in your face with who they are and will say what they mean, often in a brash or direct way that many aren't used to - but they lay their cards out on the table. That is what I appreciate. There are times when I don't mind speaking in code or interpreting it, but 70% of me doesn't want to labor to figure some of the most simplest things out.
Aries, the "I Am," leads one to their identity: by either standing in their identity or traveling along the path of understanding (usually by self acceptance) their identity. It was an Aries that confirmed for me at a much younger age what I already felt within: That I'm destined to explore the Arts, to accept that part of my identity, and to remain disciplined, devoted, and unswayed by public opinion. I've found whenever I didn't create, I felt lost. Easy confirmation for me. Years passed and my Art became my business and I must say that I'm doing pretty well.
In this podcast episode, I fan out a bit about the Aries personality expression based upon my own experience and observation. I talk about Chiron in Aries, the Planet Mars, and of course DMX.
Below there's information about the Planet Mars, courtesy of NASA. There's also some Chiron in Aries in the Houses information, and the latest podcast episode about it all. Have a listen.
